Card
During the summer of 1916, on the imperial dividing border of the current province of Vicenza and Trento, guided by general Graziani, divisions of military engineering corps, aided by numerous civilians among which women and children, built an important opera of enemy blockage.
In order to protect the Vicentine lowland, the line extended on the mountainous crests of Catena delle Tre Croci passing through Campogrosso, until Pian delle Fugazze.
In an extraordinary dolomitic Pre-Alps environment that shows multiple aspects of refined natural architectural beauty which is both harmonious and visibly unique, Alpe di Campogrosso conserves an important example of how a defensive system is connected to a strategic fortified network.
Colle della Gazza
The organization of another important fortified complex, even if of minor dimensions, is represented by the defensive system found around Colle della Gazza.
The intervention proposal aimed at recuperating and promoting these works, would find great significance in this area for its fascinating panoramic views:
Military roads
Trenches
Artillery gun emplacements
Deposit tunnels
Connections with the fortified camps of Carega (in Trentine territory)
