Lèmerle, Magnaboschi, Zovetto

"The sacrifice and the memory"

Card
The Lemerle, Magnaboschi, and the Zovetto positions were bitterly fought over during the Strafexpedition when the Italian divisions (brigades Forlì and Liguria) were definitely able to stop the imperial advance.

The numerous gravestone and monuments present in the area are a testimony of those tragic events among which the roman column is highlighted, which dominates the Italian cemetery erected in the 1930s in correspondence to the point of highest enemy penetration. From April 1918, the area was guarded by English units against which the Austrian offensive was shattered on June 1918 and thanks to whom, most of the construction of the complex of trenches, armored posts and shelters are still visible today.

It is certainly worth while to remember the system of trenches and armored pit-like posts present both on the Zovetto as well as in correspondence of the saddle pad between Lemerle and Magnaboschi and the defensive tunnel obtained in the rocky backside of the municipal road, that transversely outcrops to the western peaks of Zovetto, within which, are still present some inscriptions of the English divisions active in the area.
Thanks to the specific close location to the Cesuna dwelling and thanks to the easy access, let alone to the significant presence in the Val Magnaboschi of the English cemetery and of the ex Italian - Austrian cemetery which were recently restored (where, furthermore, the annual gathering of the Associazione Nationale del Fante [National Association of the infantryman] takes place), the area appears to be the most suitable site for the making of a didactic passageway expressly designed for schools, in order to remember the supplied contribution of the allies during the conflict through the restoration and captioning of the most significant works.

In such context, the specific didactic related reconstruction and re-setting of a trench segment and of some of the existing cave posts could be planned.

Furthermore, it is believed to be necessary to highlight how such events are configured as an ideal completion of the visiting of the monumental area of Cengio or of the neighboring Punta Corbin and of the very same Museum of the War of Canove that conserves numerous documents and testimonies of the events that involved these very same areas.
