"We are now on the top of Mount Novegno, actually made of an unexpected bowl-like wide grassland, which on its borders various mounts gently hump overlooking steep ridges and large channels that sharply descent to the Posina valley or overlook south on the Vicentine lowland, towards which our vista can relax by noticing the delightful step formed by the Tretto Highland".
This reported thought supplies a truthful image of the summit structure of Novegno as it describes those environmental characteristics that are not possible to acknowledge from below.
Detaching itself from the massive Pasubio, it embanks from south to the medium Posina and from whichever side you were to observe it, it gives the exact impression of being and extreme and conspicuous bulwark towards the Vicentine lowland, as it did become during the Strafexpedition of Spring 1916.
But if to the vast bowl-like summit, we were also to include the impact, right from the east, of that important depression constituted by the Campedello Pass, from north to south the peaks of Mount Priaforà, Mount Giove and Mount Brazome can be added to the scenario.
If, strictly from a temporal point of view, even if the war here above had violently raged, we should remember that the overall different constructions that subsequently were built made the area become an invincible complex in the founded fear that the great risk taken in 1916 could repeat itself. Time and most of all the undisputed establishment of the vegetation, have for the most part, erased the multiple traces of the defensive positions made mainly on the Val Posina side.
Those artifacts and in particular the ones found on the formidable stronghold of Priaforà that are still visible for the visitor' curiosity are nonetheless sufficient to understand the importance attributed to a strong ownership of Novegno and Priaforà.
