Alpe di Campogrosso

"The Great War behind the front line"

Card
In the summer of 1916, on the Imperial watershed frontier of the present province of Vicenza and Trento, guided by the general Graziani, corps of the military engineers, aided by numerous civilians among which women and children, raised an impressive enemy blockade construction.
In order to protect the Vicentine lowland, the line was developed on the mountain crown of the Catena delle Tre Croci passing through Campogrosso, up until Pian delle Fugazze.
In such a unique Pre-Alps dolomitic environment that contains multiple aspects and harmonious and seeming contrasts offered by the fineness of the natural architecture, Alpe di Campogrosso conserves an important example of a defensive system connected to a strategic castling road network.
