Outline of the place:
All of the hill areas between the plain and the first slopes of Grappa were garrisoned by artillery units: these offered an ideal location on which to position the cannons sheltered from counter-battery fire. The large Italian and French cannons, which were able to effectively hit the area of Tomba-Monfenera, the Valdobbiadene basin, Quartier del Piave area and the Montello were positioned between Maser and Cornuta.
A complex system of observatories and supplies, which has left interesting and recognizable signs close to Forcella Mostacin, was indispensable for the effectiveness of the shots.
