The great War
Outline of the place:
Restored thanks to the work of volunteers and the support of the local administrations, the trenches of Mount Palon allow visitors to experience the crudity and the fundamental drama of these battle posts.
Walking between the firing positions and the galleries, following the narrow progression of the trenches along the side of the mountain has a profound effect on the soul and helps to imagine the hardships suffered by the soldiers.
During the conflict, the area of Palon was garrisoned by artillery that defeated the eastern sector of the front, whilst the trenches closed the pass to possible surprise attacks from the Alano basin.
