The great War
Outline of the place:
The Bassano mountain refuge is the arrival point for visitors to Mount Grappa, a goal aspired to by those arriving on bicycles, on a motorbike or on foot along the beautiful paths that converge at the peak. Reconstructed in 1935, the refuge is located in a beautiful panoramic position, which served as a useful look out point from which to observe the progress on the front. Today, the refuge offers shelter and refreshments, letting the photographs on the walls narrate some of these fragments of history. Slightly lower down visitors can enter the Vittorio Emanuele gallery, a grandiose military fortified construction, the museum hosted in the historic Caserma (barracks) Milano, the projection hall and the path that leads to the Shrine and the monument area.
